inside innovation

AT THE INQ we like to mix it up and give things a bit of a beating, so stumbling across a demo of Samsung’s Beat Edition GT-M7600 mobile running NXP LifeVibes Mix DJ FX software fitted the bill.

At MWC Samsung was touting its new handset as the world’s first phone with DJ-style music effects, like scratching, flanging, phasing, reverb and time stretching.

Using a user’s own uploaded audio, the phone and accompanying software apparently allow for rapid remixing on the go, either for your own audio pleasure, or to bug the hell out of everybody else by setting the creation as a ringtone.

Apparently the NXP LifeVibes software doesn’t kill off mobile battery life too quickly either, with effects produced using just a very simple API along with the mobile’s touchscreen interface.

Take a look and a listen and let us know if you think the software ‘sounds’ like a good idea, or whether the very thought just gives you a splitting headache.
